5 Things You Can Do to Keep Schools Safe
1. Follow school safety ID procedures including: Make sure that your child is wearing his/her ID so that it is easily visible. Also, adhere to sign in and ID procedures for visitors on campus.
2. Know what your child is bringing to school in his/her backpack. Weapons of any kind,
mace/pepper spray, vape/tobacco products and drugs are not allowed.
3. Talk to your child about constructive conflict resolution. Most altercations are avoidable. Encourage them to speak with an adult or administrator to help resolve issues.
4. Know what your child is doing on social media and the internet. Engage your child in conversations and pay special attention to warning signs of emotional or mental distress.
5. See Something, Say Something! Report suspicious behavior either witnessed in person or on social media. Call 281-498-3542 or 911. Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
